Eagles Drop Playoff Opener to AVC
The MSJC men’s basketball team saw their season come to an end on Wednesday night as they fell at home in the First-Round of the 3C2A Southern California Regional playoffs 100-73 to Antelope Valley.
The MSJC men's basketball team saw their season come to an end on Wednesday night as they fell at home in the First-Round of the 3C2A Southern California Regional playoffs 100-73 to Antelope Valley.
Both teams came out strong exchanging baskets over the opening eight minutes, but Antelope seized control of the game with 12:11 to play in the first half when Mister Burnside made a jump shot to give the Marauders a 23-22 lead. AVC would extend their lead to 54-33 by halftime.
The Eagles made a push midway through the second half when RJ Dawson connected on a 3-point shot to cut the lead to 64-54 with 10:24 left to play. MSJC had an opportunity to cut the lead even more, but a pair of missed lay-ups left the lead at 10. AVC reclaimed command the rest of the way and slowly pulled away for the victory.
Adrian Mosley closed out his outstanding MSJC career with a team-high 19 points for the Eagles he also had 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Willie Miller closed the night with 14 points and Dawson added 12. AVC was led by Amado Coleman who had a monster double double with 33 points and 11 rebounds, Burnside ended the night with 26 points, 10 boards, and 5 assists.
The Eagles concluded the season with a record of 21-8, they were runners-up in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference. Antelope Valley advanced to the second round of the Regional Tournament and will travel to Santiago Canyon on Saturday.
