Eagles Win Final Two Matches, Head to IEAC Tournament
The MSJC men’s tennis team wrapped up their regular season on Tuesday with a win over Mt. SAC 6-3.
The MSJC men's tennis team wrapped up their regular season on Tuesday with a win over Mt. SAC 6-3.
The Eagles were coming off a 9-0 win over Imperial Valley which gave MSJC a second-place finish in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play. MSJC finished the year with an overall record of 6-9, they went 4-2 in league matches.
Tuesday the Eagles won both the #2 and #3 doubles matches as Jeremy Del Villar and Richard Silva won the two's 8-6 and Nolan Carr teamed with Eduardo Gomez Cienega to win the three's 8-2. In singles play Del Villar, Jesus Guadarrama, Silva, and Luis Romero III each earned a point in victory.
Last Thursday in their final IEAC match the Eagles downed Imperial Valley 9-0. Strong doubles play at #1 by Keith Norman and Guadarrama got MSJC out to a fast start as they picked up an 8-5 win. Del Villar and Silva won 8-1 and Carr joined with Antonio Martinez to also pick up an 8-1 win putting the Eagles in command of the match headed to singles. In singles the domination continued with five of the six players from doubles earning singles points, Jonathan Hall also picked up a singles win.
MSJC will begin play in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday, that event is being hosted by San Diego City College.
