Beach Volleyball Season in Full Swing
The MSJC beach volleyball season is off and running, with the Eagles most recently hosting a four-team event on the Menifee Campus.
The MSJC beach volleyball season is off and running, with the Eagles most recently hosting a four-team event on the Menifee Campus.
Friday the Eagles took on Mt. SAC, College of the Desert, and La Sierra University. MSJC picked up their second victory of the season when they defeated Desert 4-1.
In the Desert match the #2 pair of Jade Tolliver and Sophia Castro came back to win in three sets. After losing the first 21-8 the duo rebounded to win the second 21-17 and wrapped up the victory in the third 15-12. The #3 team of Amari Ramirez and Angelina Browder as well as the #4 pair of Shannon Frary and Danielle Malnack both won in straight sets. Angelica Colcol and Elle Scott rounded out the victory with a win at #5; 18-21, 21-12, and 15-13.
The Eagles struggled in their other two contests on Friday as they lost to La Sierra 5-0 and Mt. SAC 4-1. MSJC's lone victory against Mt. SAC came at the #2 spot when Daija Malcolm and Destiny Affor teamed up for a 21-19 and 21-19 victory.
The Eagles are off to a 2-7 start on the season and will be back on the sand Thursday when they travel to Santa Barbara. MSJC will take on both the Vaqueros and Ventura Thursday.
MSJC's next home matches will be on Wednesday February 25th when they host both Life Pacific University and Mesa (AZ) College. Action on the 25th begins at 9am on the MVC Campus.
