MSJC Opens Conference With Doubleheader Sweep
The MSJC baseball team opened Inland Empire Athletic Conference play on Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of Chaffey on the road.

The MSJC baseball team opened Inland Empire Athletic Conference play on Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of Chaffey on the road.
The Eagles got a standout pitching performance from Gavin Warner in game one as he went the distance in a 7-inning shutout victory. He allowed just 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 7. Wyatt Fiedler had a strong game at the plate as he went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple, and a pair of RBIs. Steven Felipe added two hits and two walks while Matt Rezkalah also had a pair of hits and drove home a run in the 7-0 win.
MSJC received more solid pitching in game two as they defeated the Panthers 5-2. Dayton Thompson threw 5 solid innings and gave up just two runs. The trio of Tylor Copeland, Efren Urrea, and Ivan Salas finished the job as they combined to throw 4 shutout innings and gave up just 3 hits between them. Ryan Rangel and Rezkalah both had two RBIs while Mikey Ong drove in MSJC's other run.
The Eagles improved to 8-5 overall with the two wins and are 2-0 in IEAC action. MSJC will wrap up their 3-game series with Chaffey on Monday at home beginning at 1 pm. The team will then jump right into another 3-game series with Barstow starting at home on Tuesday. The Eagles will travel to Barstow on Thursday and then finish the week with game three against the Vikings back at home Saturday at noon.
