The MSJC baseball team ran into a tough stretch last week as they lost three games against College of the Desert.
The Eagles and Roadrunners started the 3-game series on Tuesday in San Jacinto where Desert earned a 6-2 win. The Roadrunners scored two runs in the top of the first and added two in the top of the ninth on their way to victory. MSJC scored single runs in the bottom of the fourth and seventh but could not find a way to even up the score. Will Siqueiros had two hits including a double and Mikey Ong had the only RBI of the game for MSJC. Gavin Warner suffered his first pitching loss of the season despite another solid outing as he went 8 innings allowing just 2 earned runs and struck out 7.
Thursday's game in Palm Desert turned into a two-day affair as the game was halted in the bottom of the first inning due to poor air quality. The Eagles had jumped out to a 5-2 lead at that point. The two teams tried it again on Friday and the Roadrunners rallied back to earn a walk-off 6-5 victory. Dayton Thompson, Brody Boyd, Tyler Trout, and Ong all had an RBI in the loss.
Saturday's series finale was played in extremely windy conditions in San Jacinto. The Eagles scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the third, but Desert responded to score the contest's next seven runs on their way to a 10-3 win. Thompson had an RBI triple for MSJC while Justin Granado added a pair of hits.
The Eagles are now 11-9 overall and 5-4 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference games. MSJC will play a three-game series against San Bernardino Valley this week starting at 2:30 on Tuesday in San Bernardino. The Eagles will host the Wolverines on Thursday at 2:30 pm before returning to SBVC on Saturday at noon to end the series.
