The MSJC baseball team snapped a five-game losing streak on Saturday with a 6-1 win over San Bernardino Valley in the series finale.
Dayton Thompson was dominating on the mound as he threw a complete game allowing just one run and six hits while striking out 7 and walking none. For good measure he also added two hits and two RBIs at the plate. Alex Pintal, Wyatt Fiedler, and Louie Arias also had RBIs in the victory.
The Eagles were coming off a pair of tough losses to the Wolverines earlier in the week. MSJC lost on Tuesday in San Bernardino 14-6 after holding a 6-5 advantage through 6 ½ innings. SBVC rallied for an 8-run bottom of the seventh for the win. Steven Felipe had a triple and three RBIs in the loss while Justin Granado, Matt Rezkalah, and Mikey Ong each drove home a run.
Thursday in the middle game of the series in San Jacinto both teams had the offense going but it was SBVC who came away with the 16-11 victory. Will Siqueiros had three hits and an RBI while Fiedler went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple, and 3 RBIs. Ty Mattson also chipped in with a pair of hits and an RBI.
The Eagles, who are now 12-11 overall, evened their Inland Empire Athletic Conference record at 6-6 with Saturday's win. MSJC this week will play a 3-game series against Cerro Coso with a home game on Tuesday at 2:30 and then road games in Ridgecrest Friday and Saturday.
