MSJC Makes Final Push Towards Playoffs
The MSJC baseball team wrapped up Inland Empire Athletic Conference play last week with a pair of big home wins over Cerro Coso and Victor Valley.

The MSJC baseball team wrapped up Inland Empire Athletic Conference play last week with a pair of big home wins over Cerro Coso and Victor Valley.
The Eagles improved to 21-17 overall and finished league play at 15-9 with the victories, MSJC will now finish in at least third place in the conference standings.
Thursday MSJC jumped ahead 5-0 after three innings but then found themselves in a tough contest with Cerro Coso after the Coyotes scored seven times in the top of the fourth. The Eagles found their footing and reclaimed control of the game as they took a 12-7 lead into the ninth. Coso once again made a charge, but Ivan Salas was able to work out of the ninth-inning jam to secure a 12-11 victory. Kian Polk earned the pitching victory in relief of Dayton Thompson while Salas picked up the save. Mikey Ong had three hits and three RBIs in the win while both Will Siqueiros and Steven Felipe also collected three hits apiece. Thompson, Ryan Rangel, and Ty Mattson each drove home two.
Saturday the Eagles started fast and cruised to a 21-3 win over Victor Valley. Isaiah Diaz was the winner on the mound as he went five and a third innings allowing no runs on four hits and he struck out five. Felipe had a pair of hits and three RBIs including a two-run home run. Christian Maciel had three hits and a team-best four runs driven in. Matt Rezkalah and Siqueiros both had two hits and drove home three. Justin Granado added three hits in the win for the Eagles.
MSJC has just two games remaining in the regular season. They will travel to Mt. SAC on Tuesday for a noon game before hosting the Mounties on Thursday at 1 pm.
