The MSJC men's basketball team kicked off their season on Thursday and Friday and passed the century mark in both games on their way to a pair of wins.
The Eagles opened the season on Thursday night and raced out to a 54-38 lead by halftime on their way to a 103-68 win over LA Harbor in the MSJC Tip-Off Classic. RJ Dawson led an explosive offensive effort with a team high 23 points in the victory he also pulled in 8 rebounds. Daniel Crawford gave the Eagles a huge spark off the bench as he connected on 6 of 7 three-point attempts and finished the night with 20 points. Willie Miller and Tyler Frazier-Mathews also reached double figures with 14 and 12 points respectively. Point guard Joseph Boddie controlled the game by pushing tempo and dishing out a game high 9 assists.
MSJC was right back at it on Friday evening and again started fast building a 52-44 lead at the half and then holding off LA Southwest to win 106-93. Adrian Mosley, who had been saddled with foul trouble the night before, responded to score a team high of 22 points in the victory he also grabbed 5 rebounds and had 6 assists. Boddie and Frazier-Mathews each had 13. The bench again played a big part in the victory as Crawford poured in 18 more points and the combination of Kory Dodson and Stephen Castleberry who each had 9 points scored 15 of their 18 in the second half.
The 2-0 Eagles will now head on the road for just one game this week when they travel to Santa Monica on Saturday. Saturday's game in Santa Monica is set to tip-off at 4 pm.
