Eagles Beat Chaffey in IEAC Opener
The MSJC men’s basketball team scored 59 points in the second half on Saturday as they opened Inland Empire Athletic Conference play with a 108-98 win over visiting Chaffey.
The MSJC men's basketball team scored 59 points in the second half on Saturday as they opened Inland Empire Athletic Conference play with a 108-98 win over visiting Chaffey.
The Eagles trailed by two at halftime 51-49 as the teams went back-and-forth in the first twenty minutes. The game continued to be close in the second before Stephen Castleberry finally gave the Eagles the lead with 9:24 to play 77-76 and MSJC would slowly pull away from there. To that point the game featured 13 ties and 19 lead changes.
The Eagles shot 64.5% in the second half allowing them to pull away, their biggest lead came with just under a minute left when they led 108-90.
Adrian Mosley continued his strong start to the season as he scored a game-high 31 points, he also had 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Tyler Frazier-Mathews scored 16 points and pulled in 7 rebounds to go along with a pair of blocked shots. Daniel Crawford and Kory Dodson came off the bench to add scoring punch as Crawford connected on four three pointers on his way to 16 and Dodson added 11. RJ Dawson also hit double figures with 13 in the victory.
The Eagles are now 9-3 overall and are 1-0 in IEAC action, Chaffey falls to 6-7 and 0-1. MSJC will be on the road for a pair of games this week as they travel to Copper Mountain on Wednesday for their first IEAC road game of the year and to Fullerton for a non-conference contest against the Hornets on Saturday.
