The MSJC men's basketball team lost on the road Wednesday night in Joshua Tree where they came up short against Copper Mountain 83-71.
The game started with a flurry of missed shots by both teams in the opening minute and a half, but Copper Mountain broke the seal with a four-point play to start the scoring. The Fighting Cacti would hold on to that lead for most of the first half with the Eagles only holding a brief 21-19 lead midway through. When the half was over MSJC trailed 40-34.
In a physical battle CMC came out in the second half and was able to build their lead to as much as twelve with ten minutes to play at 62-50. MSJC however battled back to go on a 12-2 run to cut the lead to 64-62 at the seven-minute mark, but that would be as close as the Eagles would get as CMC answered with some timely three-point shooting.
Adrian Mosley led a trio of Eagles in double figures as he scored a team-high 21 points. Willie Miller added 19 and RJ Dawson got 14 points.
MSJC falls to 9-4 overall and 1-1 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference games with the loss, Copper Mountain improved to 9-4 and 2-0. The Eagles will conclude their non-conference schedule for the season on Saturday when they travel to #2 ranked Fullerton for a 1 pm game. MSJC will return to IEAC action on January 3rd when they travel to College of the Desert.
