The MSJC men's tennis team took a trip up North over the weekend and had some success as they earned a dual win over Porterville and participated in the Modesto Tournament.
The Eagles started the trip with their second 9-0 win of the season over Porterville. In that match Luis Romero III earned his first singles win of the season. Romero also teamed with Eduardo Manzano to earn a #2 doubles victory while the duo of Sean Atas and Eduardo Gomez Cienega earned their first win together in 2026 at the #3 doubles spot.
In the Modesto Tournament, which featured 14 colleges with bracket play within your designated playing ladder, the Eagles also had some solid performances.
In the fives bracket MSJC's Richard Silva made it all the way to the finals of the main draw where he fell just short earning a runner-up finish. In the #3 doubles bracket the pair of Landon Bristow and Nolan Carr reached the main draw semi-finals before bowing out. Keith Norman bounced back from an early loss in the #3 singles draw to win the consolation bracket.
The Eagles, who are 2-5 this season, are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Riverside to take on the Tigers. MSJC will then have a break in the schedule before returning home on Tuesday March 3rd when they host San Diego City.
