The MSJC men’s tennis team picked up their third win in four matches on Tuesday as they defeated College of the Desert 9-0.
The MSJC men's tennis team picked up their third win in four matches on Tuesday as they defeated College of the Desert 9-0.
The Eagles were coming off a tough 9-0 loss to Inland Empire Athletic Conference champions San Diego City in their prior match, that followed a pair of 9-0 wins over Imperial Valley and another against Desert.
Tuesday MSJC won every set in their dominating win over the Roadrunners. In doubles the #1 pair of Keith Norman and Jesus Guadarrama won 8-4 as did the #2 team of Jeremy Del Villar and Richard Silva. At the #3 spot it was the duo of Nolan Carr and Sean Atas picking up an 8-2 win and giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead heading into singles.
MSJC also grabbed all six wins in singles. The closest match of the day was at the number one spot where Carr outlasted his opponent 7-6 and 6-3. Del Villar, Norman, Guadarrama, Silva, and Eduardo Manzano all earned straight set victories.
The Eagles have two more regular season matches remaining on their schedule and now have an overall record of 5-9, they are 3-2 in league matches. MSJC will host Imperial Valley on Thursday and Mt. SAC next Tuesday March 31st. Following those matches the Eagles will take part in the IEAC Tournament April 2-3rd hosted by San Diego City.
