The MSJC women's basketball team won two games over the weekend at the Comet Crossover hosted by Palomar. Friday the Eagles defeated East LA and Saturday MSJC picked up a win over Alan Hancock.
Friday the Eagle offense got off to a bit of a slow start as they fell behind 14-12 after the opening period. MSJC responded in the second to take a narrow four-point lead by halftime outscoring the Huskies 21-15. The Eagles built the lead to 11 by the end of the third quarter and held on for a 65-59 win. Karsen Marshall had a huge game as she scored 29 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and had 9 steals. Trinity Skinner just missed a double double as she scored 12 and pulled in 8 rebounds. Kiara Williams also reached double figures in scoring with 10, she added 4 assists and 3 steals.
Saturday MSJC came out fast and never looked back as they led after ten minutes 24-3 on their way to an 86-31 win over Hancock. Karsen Marshall again was outstanding on both ends of the court as she scored 27 points along with 10 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Williams added 17 points, 3 assists, and 6 steals while Keslyn Henson came off the bench to add 11 points. Kohen Marshall was steady as well scoring 8 points, hauling in 7 rebounds, and dishing out 3 assists.
The Eagles, 4-1 on the season, now enter a very grueling three-game stretch where they will take on 3C2A pre-season state #1 ranked Mt. SAC, #3 ranked Orange Coast, and #6 ranked Palomar. The trio of games starts on the road on Tuesday at Mt. SAC. That game will tip-off at 6 pm. Thursday MSJC will host Orange Coast at 5 pm and next Wednesday November 26th the Eagles host Palomar at 3 pm.
