MSJC Defeats Skyline, Falls to Irvine
The MSJC women’s basketball team hosted the Eagle Invitational over the weekend and came away with a win over Skyline and a close loss to Irvine Valley.

The MSJC women's basketball team hosted the Eagle Invitational over the weekend and came away with a win over Skyline and a close loss to Irvine Valley.
MSJC opened the event on Friday with a 72-57 win over Skyline. The Eagles held a 37-19 lead at halftime and never gave the Trojans a chance to come back on their way to victory. Karsen Marshall scored a game high 28 points in the win while Kiara Williams added 14 points and a game high 6 assists. Amiya Singer had her best game of the season as she recorded a double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, she also blocked 4 shots.
Saturday the Eagles got off to a fast start against Irvine Valley as they led 35-21 at the half and 50-36 after three quarters. Unfortunately, MSJC hit the wall in the fourth making just 3 of 15 field goal attempts allowing Irvine to rally back and out score the Eagles 28-11 to earn the 64-61 win. The Lasers used a huge advantage on the glass as they out rebounded the Eagles 59-35 to help make the comeback. The Eagles did not trail in the game until there were just 28 seconds to play. Karsen Marshall led a balanced offensive attack with 13 points, both Williams and Anisa Turner had 12 for MSJC. Kohen Marshall also hit double figures with 10 points and Singer had her second straight solid game with 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots.
The Eagles, who are now 6-4 on the season, will be at home twice this week when they host Imperial Valley Wednesday and Chaffey on Saturday. Wednesday's game is set to tip at 5 pm while Saturday's conference opener will begin at 1 pm. Both games this week will be part of a doubleheader with the men's team who will play following each day.
