MSJC Downs Wolverines, Extends Win Streak to Eight
The MSJC women’s basketball team continued their strong start to the Inland Empire Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday with a home win over San Bernardino Valley 106-49.
The MSJC women's basketball team continued their strong start to the Inland Empire Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday with a home win over San Bernardino Valley 106-49.
The Eagles offense came out on fire in the opening period as the team built a 30-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. Karsen Marshall went 8-for-8 in the first 10 minutes of the game and scored 20 of her game-high 31 points in the period. MSJC would push their lead to 57-33 by halftime.
MSJC used a balanced attack in the second half to back up Marshall's effort as four other Eagles reached double figures in scoring. Kohen Marshall added 14 points in the win while Trinity Skinner had 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Anaya Singer played a big role off the bench as she scored 10 points and pulled in a game-best 15 rebounds. Amiya Singer also reached double figures with 11 points, all ten Eagles who played in the contest scored.
The win was MSJC's eighth in a row and they improved their overall record to 14-4, they are now 5-0 in IEAC games.
The Eagles will play twice this week as they travel to Mira Costa on Wednesday for a non-conference contest against the Spartans and then return to league play on Saturday when they host Palo Verde. MSJC's game with Mira Costa will be the eighth time this season the Eagles have taken on a team ranked in the State's Top 20. The Spartans are currently ranked 6th in the state and are the last remaining unbeaten team in the 3C2A, the Eagles are currently ranked 14th. Wednesday's game is set for 5 pm in Oceanside, Saturday's home game is scheduled for 1 pm.
