Eagles Pick Up Bounce Back Win, Move to 6-0 in IEAC
The MSJC women's basketball team bounced back from a non-conference loss on Wednesday at #6 Mira Costa defeating visiting Palo Verde 105-37 Saturday to remain unbeaten in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play.
The MSJC women's basketball team bounced back from a non-conference loss on Wednesday at #6 Mira Costa defeating visiting Palo Verde 105-37 Saturday to remain unbeaten in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play.
The Eagles scored the first eight points of the game and never trailed as they built a commanding 31-7 lead by the end of the first period. They would go on to lead 47-19 at halftime and then score 40 points in a dominating third period.
MSJC, who was playing without the services of the state's leading scorer Karsen Marshall, rebounded from a poor shooting night in their last outing to shoot 55.4% from the field including a season high 55.6% (15-27) from the three-point line.
Kohen Marshall led five Eagles in double figures with a game-high 22 points she also had 5 assists. Keslyn Henson added 20 points in the victory while Kiara Williams had a double double with 18 points and 12 assists. Trinity Skinner came off the bench to add a double double of her own with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Taniyah Hutcherson added 13 points. Anaya Singer contributed to the victory with 10 rebounds.
The Eagles, now 15-5 overall and 6-0 in IEAC play, will be on the road for a pair of games next week when they travel to Victor Valley and Chaffey. Wednesday MSJC will play at VVC at 5 pm and Saturday the Eagles will take on Chaffey at 1 pm.
