Eagles Finish IEAC 14-0, Earn South's #7 Seed for Playoffs
The MSJC women’s basketball team had a great weekend starting on Friday night with a win over Victor Valley 92-68 to wrap up the regular season with a 23-5 overall record and an undefeated 14-0 mark in Inland Empire Athletic Conference games.
The MSJC women's basketball team had a great weekend starting on Friday night with a win over Victor Valley 92-68 to wrap up the regular season with a 23-5 overall record and an undefeated 14-0 mark in Inland Empire Athletic Conference games.
Friday night Kohen Marshall and Trinity Skinner both had double doubles with Kohen scoring a game-high 30 points and pulling in 10 rebounds while Skinner had 18 points and a team-high 12 boards. Kiara Williams added 21 points and 4 steals and Karsen Marshall also hit double figures with 12 points. The Eagles pulled away in the second half as they out scored the Rams 45-25 over the final twenty minutes.
The weekend continued to be a positive one for MSJC when the All Conference and All State teams were announced. Karsen Marshall, the state's leading scorer, earned both Inland Empire Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors as well as being named First-Team All-State. Kohen Marshall was also named First-Team All-IEAC. Kiara Williams, Trinity Skinner, and Keslyn Henson were named Second-Team All-IEAC and Amiya Singer was named Honorable Mention. Williams was also named Third-Team All-State, marking just the fifth time in program history that two MSJC players have been named to the All-State Team in the same season.
MSJC got their last piece of good news on Sunday when the seeding and brackets were announced for the 3C2A Regional Tournament. The Eagles were awarded the South Region's #7 seed and will open the playoffs at home on Saturday night against the winner of an opening round game Wednesday between Santa Barbara City College and Fullerton.
