Eagles Shocked at Home By Fullerton
The MSJC women’s basketball team was upset at home on Saturday evening as they fell to 23rd seed Fullerton 55-52 in a 3C2A second-round regional playoff game.

The Eagles struggled to get their offense going all night and trailed at the end of every period in the contest. The Hornets jumped out to an early lead and held off an MSJC run midway through the opening quarter to lead 19-12 after 10 minutes of action. The Eagles closed the gap to three at halftime 35-32 and trailed by five headed to the final quarter. Both teams had a hard time putting the ball in the basket in the fourth as MSJC outscored Fullerton just 8-6 in the period. A 3-point shot attempt by Karsen Marshall with 4 seconds left was long, and a desperation second try by Kohen Marshall also was off the mark at the buzzer.
MSJC shot just 27% from the field in the contest and 18% in the fourth quarter connecting on just 4 of 19 shots in the final 10 minutes.
Karsen Marshall scored a game-high 19 points, she was the only Eagle to reach double figures in scoring, she also grabbed 10 rebounds. Amiya Singer also pulled in 10 boards in the loss for MSJC. Erin Choi led the Hornets with 18 points and 9 rebounds while Hailey Lakey added 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The Eagles, who won their 8th straight conference championship this season and were making their 19th straight playoff appearance, finish the season at 23-6. Fullerton (15-15) advances to the Regional Finals and will take on the winner between Chaffey and Irvine Valley who are playing later tonight.
