Eagles Pick Up Road Win at Southwestern
The MSJC women’s tennis team completed their first round of Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play on Tuesday with a road win at Southwestern 7-2.
The MSJC women's tennis team completed their first round of Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play on Tuesday with a road win at Southwestern 7-2.
The Eagles won two of three doubles matches to take the early lead as Madison Williamson and Brooke Sherwood won at the #1 spot 8-1, Indie Stover and Natalia Mattar also won 8-1 at #2 doubles.
MSJC continued to pull away in singles with Williamson winning at #1 6-4 and 6-4 while Stover won at #3 6-4 and 6-1. The Eagles dominated the number four through six singles matches with Sherwood, Jaydn Brush, and Rosemary Bradshaw all winning 6-0 and 6-0 to wrap up the team victory.
The Eagles were coming off a loss last Thursday to San Diego City 8-1. In that match Stover earned MSJC's lone point with a tough win at #3 singles as she outlasted her opponent 3-6, 7-6, and 8-6.
MSJC finished the first round of PCAC play with a 3-2 conference record, they are now 7-3 overall. The Eagles will be back on the road Thursday when they travel to Grossmont for a 2 pm match. MSJC will play a home non-conference match on Saturday when they host West Valley College at 10 am.
