7th Ranked Eagles Defeat West Valley
The MSJC women's tennis team, who was ranked #7 among 3C2A teams in the latest ITA rankings, defeated West Valley College on Friday at home 8-1.
The MSJC women's tennis team, who was ranked #7 among 3C2A teams in the latest ITA rankings, defeated West Valley College on Friday at home 8-1.
The Eagles picked up all three doubles points on Friday as Madison Williamson and Brooke Sherwood won at #1 8-4 and Jaydn Brush and Indie Stover won at #2 8-2. MSJC was awarded the third doubles point by default.
MSJC went on to win three of the four contested matches in singles and picked up two more default points. Williamson earned a singles win 6-4 and 6-2 at the #1 spot while Stover won at #2 by scores of 6-4 and 6-3. Sherwood also earned a straight set win at #3 collecting a 6-2 and 6-1 victory.
The Eagles were coming off a tough loss yesterday on the road at Grossmont 7-2. In that match Williamson and Sherwood earned a doubles point while Stover was the only Eagle to win in singles.
MSJC's #7 ITA ranking is the highest in the past 10 years for the Eagles, who now have an overall record on the season of 8-4.
The team will be backin action at home on Tuesday when they host Imperial Valley at 2 pm.
