The MSJC women's tennis team had one singles player and two doubles teams qualify for the 3C2A State Finals in Ojai this past weekend after taking part in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.
Madison Williamson was a singles qualifier as she won both of her matches at the event held at Southwestern College in Chula Vista. She won her opening round match 6-0 and 6-0 and then followed that up with a 6-3, 6-0 straight set victory. Those two wins put Williamson in the quarterfinals where the tournament ended because the state qualifiers had been determined.
In doubles Williamson teamed up with Brooke Sherwood to advance to Ojai. The duo won their opening match 8-0 over a pair from Southwestern before losing their second match 8-1. The Eagles' other doubles team to qualify was the tandem of Indie Stover and Natalia Mattar. Stover and Mattar lost a tough opening round match 8-6 but battled their way through the back draw to earn their trip to state. Jaydn Brush and Helaina Garcia also competed in doubles coming up just short of moving on.
The Eagles finished the regular season with an overall record of 10-6, they went 5-5 in PCAC matches.
The Ojai Tournament will begin on Thursday April 23rd and run through the 25th.
