Softball Opens Season With Shut Out Win
The MSJC softball team kicked off the 2026 season on Friday with a 3-0 home victory over Grossmont in Menifee.

Ellianna Pasley, the reigning Inland Empire Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year, started her sophomore season with a complete game shutout. Pasley threw 7 innings: scattering 6 hits, striking out two, and walking just one batter.
Third baseman Kaylee Fraund was the offensive hero on opening day going 2 for 3 with a two-run homerun and a double. Malia Cordova added a double and a run scored in the victory while Trinity Barnes also had a hit and scored a run. Arianna Vasquez reached base twice after being hit by a pair of pitches, she had MSJC's lone stolen base of the day. The Eagles only committed one error on the day, and catcher Marleigh Wielinski threw out two would be base stealers.
The 1-0 Eagles will be on the road for four games this week. MSJC travels to San Diego Mesa on Tuesday for a doubleheader with the first game starting at noon. On Saturday the Eagles will be at Citrus where they will play both the Owls and Orange Coast.
