Bayless Strikes Out 12, Eagles Defeat Southwestern
The MSJC softball team picked up a non-conference win on Saturday in Menifee as they defeated Southwestern 7-1.

The MSJC softball team picked up a non-conference win on Saturday in Menifee as they defeated Southwestern 7-1.
Charlotte Bayless gave up a single run in the top of the first to the Jaguars but then settled in to shut out Southwestern the rest of the way to earn the pitching victory. She gave up just seven hits and recorded a season-high 12 strikeouts.
The offense evened up the game in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Journee Rohbok, they would take the lead in the fourth with an RBI double from Keyera Cameron. The Eagles found some breathing room in the bottom of the fifth when they tacked on four more runs with both Vanessa Garcia and Kaylee Fraund adding RBIs. Trinity Barnes capped off the scoring in the bottom of the sixth with a run scoring double.
The Eagles were coming off a tough loss at Chaffey on Wednesday where the Panthers earned a 4-3 Inland Empire Athletic Conference win. MSJC scored single runs in the top of the third, fourth, and fifth innings before surrendering what turned out to be the winning run in the bottom of the sixth. Arianna Vasquez, Malia Cordova, and Garcia each had RBI singles in the loss.
MSJC, now 12-11 overall, are currently 2-1 in IEAC games. The Eagles will travel to San Bernardino Valley on Friday for a conference doubleheader against the Wolverines. Friday's first game is scheduled for noon.
