Eagle Softball Takes Two From SBVC

The MSJC softball team picked up an Inland Empire Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep on Friday at San Bernardino Valley.

The Eagles won the first game of the day 5-1 behind a strong pitching effort from Ellianna Pasley. MSJC fell behind 1-0 after the first inning, but rallied for two runs in the third, two more in the sixth, and added an insurance run in the seventh for the win. Malia Cordova got the offense going with a two-run double in the top of the third, she also drove home a run in the top of the seventh. Malaina Lantanigne and Arianna Vasquez also picked up RBIs in the victory. Pasley earned the pitching victory by throwing five shutout innings allowing just two hits while striking out three. Cordova finished the game 2 for 3 with three RBIs.

MSJC jumped ahead early in game two as Vanessa Garcia picked up a first inning RBI. Trinity Barnes added a two-run triple in the second and the Eagles were off to an 8-0 five inning victory. Charlotte Bayless threw a great game in the circle for MSJC as she went all five innings allowing just one hit and collecting six strikeouts all while walking none. Keyera Cameron had three RBIs in the win and Cordova continued her solid day adding another RBI.

The wins improved the Eagles overall record on the season to 14-11, they are 4-1 in IEAC games. MSJC has a busy schedule this week with four home games. The Eagles will host College of the Desert on Friday in an IEAC doubleheader before taking on both Imperial Valley and Compton on Saturday. Friday's first game in Menifee against Desert starts at noon.
