Eagles Win Two of Three Key IEAC Games
The MSJC softball team won two of three key games in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play last week as they defeated Victor Valley and split a doubleheader with Chaffey.

The MSJC softball team won two of three key games in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play last week as they defeated Victor Valley and split a doubleheader with Chaffey.
The Eagles started the week with a 7-1 win over Victor Valley on Wednesday. The Rams scored a run in the top of the first before the Eagles put the next seven runs on the board. After tying the game in the bottom of the second MSJC scored three times in the bottom of the third to take the lead 4-1. Journee Rohbok hit an RBI single, and Keyera Cameron had an RBI triple. Trinity Barnes added onto the lead in the fifth with an RBI double and Rohbok finished off the scoring with a towering two-run home run in the sixth. Ellianna Pasley earned the pitching victory as she went the first four innings allowing just one run while Charlotte Bayless came in to throw the final three scoreless innings giving up just one hit.
Friday MSJC took on league leading Chaffey in a doubleheader and were shut out in the first game of the day as they picked up just two hits in a 7-0 loss.
The Eagles bounced back in game two as they scored seven times in the bottom of the first inning and held on for an 8-6 win. In the explosive first inning, Malia Cordova got things going with a solo home run while Cameron capped off the rally with a three-run homer of her own. In between Vanessa Garcia had a two-run single and Marleigh Wielinski added an RBI base hit. Pasley again earned the win in the circle, this time she pitched the final four and 2/3 innings allowing a pair of earned runs.
The Eagles, who have won nine of their last ten games, are now 20-12 overall on the season and 8-2 in IEAC play. Chaffey is currently 9-1 in the league standings; both teams have five conference games remaining. This week MSJC will travel to Grossmont on Thursday for a 3 pm game before going to Barstow on Friday for a doubleheader starting at noon.
