Eagles Earn #14 Seed for Regional Playoffs
The MSJC softball team has qualified for the 3C2A Southern California Regional Tournament for the second year in a row as they earned the #14 seed and will travel to San Diego Mesa for a best of three series beginning on Friday.
The MSJC softball team has qualified for the 3C2A Southern California Regional Tournament for the second year in a row as they earned the #14 seed and will travel to San Diego Mesa for a best of three series beginning on Friday.
The Eagles wrapped up their regular season last week on the road as they defeated College of the Desert 8-0 in five innings Wednesday and lost at Moorpark on Thursday.
Wednesday MSJC finished off their Inland Empire Athletic Conference schedule for the season with the win over Desert to post a league record of 13-2. That 13-2 mark was good enough for a second-place IEAC finish. In Wednesday's game Charlotte Bayless was the star as she threw a no-hitter to secure the pitching victory. Along the way she walked four and struck out five. At the plate Kaylee Fraund and Vanessa Garcia each drove in a pair of runs while Trinity Barnes, Arianna Vasquez, and Neveah Bachman drove in one each. Thursday the Eagles managed just one hit in a loss to Moorpark, that came off the bat of Makayla Frye.
MSJC heads into the playoff with an overall record of 27-13, Mesa will enter the postseason 26-12 overall they were the second-place team in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. The two teams met back in January in a doubleheader at Mesa. The Olympians won game one 4-0, but the Eagles bounced back to win the night cap 11-3.
This weekend's best of three series begins on Friday at 2 pm with game one at Mesa. Game two at Mesa will be at noon on Saturday with game three if necessary to be played thirty minutes after game two's conclusion.
