The Eagles' first game against the Olympians was Friday afternoon and after falling behind 5-0 MSJC came back to score the next six runs of the contest. Unfortunately, Mesa would reclaim the lead and hold off the Eagles down the stretch to win 11-8. The MSJC comeback started when Kaylee Fraund hit a two-run single in the top of the third, that was followed by a towering three-run homerun by Vanessa Garcia. Trinity Barnes gave the Eagles a brief lead in the top of the fourth with an RBI single, but that is when the Olympians scored the next six runs over three innings. Arianna Vasquez would also add an RBI for MSJC.
Saturday, the Eagles playing as the home team, won a thrilling eight inning game 6-5 to even the series 1-1. This time MSJC trailed 3-0 after five and a half innings before Trista Clarke earned an RBI in the bottom of the sixth. Mesa would respond with a solo home run to lead 4-1 headed to the bottom of the seventh. The Eagle comeback started with a bases loaded walk by Garcia to cut the lead to 4-2, that was followed by RBI singles from Vasquez and Journee Rohbok to force the game into extra innings. Mesa scored a run in the top of the eighth on a wild pitch but again MSJC was able to answer. With the bases loaded and two outs Garcia again came through with a big hit that scored both Malia Cordova and Madison Meyers to give MSJC the walk-off win and force a game three.
