The MSJC women’s soccer team defeated Canada 3-1 Thursday and earned a draw 1-1 with Ventura Saturday in the New Balance Community College Showcase held in Ventura.

The MSJC women's soccer team defeated Canada 3-1 Thursday and earned a draw 1-1 with Ventura Saturday in the New Balance Community College Showcase held in Ventura.
The Eagles fell behind Canada just fourteen minutes into the match on Thursday before rallying to score three straight goals on the way to the victory. Kassandra Martinez evened the score at 1-1 with an assist by Eileen Vargas in the 41st minute. MSJC shutdown Canada in the second half and scored the go-ahead goal in the 63rd minute when Nathali Gasca found the back of the net with an assist from Lauren Bermudez. The Eagles put the match out of reach when Maggie Arens scored an unassisted goal in the 70th minute. Kimberly Estrada and Briseida Medina combined to make six saves in goal for MSJC.
Saturday the Eagles and Ventura were locked in a physical scoreless battle for the first sixty-five minutes of the match. MSJC scored the day's first goal when Samantha Lopez knocked one in with an assist from Arens. The Pirates evened the match in extra time to force the draw. Estrada played all ninety minutes in goal and made two saves.
MSJC is now 2-1-1 on the season and will return to the pitch on Friday when they travel to Long Beach City College. Friday's match kicks off at 4 pm.
