The MSJC soccer team started slowly in a pair of key Inland Empire Athletic Conference matches last week and could not recover as they lost to San Bernardino Valley and Chaffey.
The Eagles started the week on Tuesday with a road match at San Bernardino where the Wolverines scored goals in the eleventh and eighteenth minutes to take early command. The two early goals would be all SBVC needed as they won the match 2-0. MSJC did get off eleven shots in the contest but only put one on goal in the shutout. Kimberly Estrada played all ninety minutes in goal for the Eagles making six saves.
Friday in a home match at HCN Bank Stadium against Chaffey it was a similar start as the Panthers scored goals in the fifth and thirteenth minutes to take a 2-0 lead. The score would remain 2-0 until the sixty-eighth minute when MSJC's Jalyssa Arias knocked one in with an assist from Nathali Gasca to cut the lead to 2-1. The Eagles gave a strong effort down the stretch but could never find the equalizer in the final minutes.
MSJC, who now stands at 3-7-1 overall on the season and 0-2 in IEAC play, will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Norco College at 4 pm.
