Volleyball Season Officially Underway
The MSJC volleyball team kicked off their 2025 season on Saturday at home and lost to visiting Ventura in a competitive four set match 3-1.
The MSJC volleyball team kicked off their 2025 season on Saturday at home and lost to visiting Ventura in a competitive four set match 3-1.
The Eagles looked ready from the beginning of the match as they built a 23-16 lead in the opening set but could not hold off a late Pirates charge and lost the first 28-30. MSJC lost the second set as well 26-28 before coming back and winning the third 25-19. Ventura closed out the match in fourth with a 25-12 win.
The MSJC offense was led by Daija Malcolm who knocked down a match high nineteen kills, Lorna Lopez recorded eleven kills for the Eagles. Angelina Browder passed out thirty-four assists in the loss. On defense Browder picked up a team high twenty digs while Lilly Galvin had thirteen. Malcolm and Tala Paige Gurganious had ten digs each. Lopez made two solo blocks.
The Eagles will be back in action this week with four road matches. Wednesday MSJC travels to San Deigo Mesa and Friday the team will be at Riverside City. The Eagles will conclude their busy week on Saturday as they take on both LA Mission and West LA at Mission.
