MSJC Volleyball Ends Busy Week With Win Over West LA
The MSJC volleyball team had a busy week as they competed in four matches all on the road.

The MSJC volleyball team had a busy week as they competed in four matches all on the road.
The Eagles started the week with a trip to San Diego Mesa on Wednesday and lost in straight sets to the Olympians. Mesa won by scores of 25-16, 25-20, and 25-8. Daija Malcolm led the MSJC offense with eleven kills and Angelina Browder dished out fourteen assists. Lilly Galvin made a team high fourteen digs to lead the defense.
Friday MSJC traveled to Riverside where they fell in an epic five set battle. RCC won the match 25-21, 15-25, 25-19, 18-25, and 15-12. Malcolm had another standout performance as she made a match high twenty-five kills to go along with fourteen digs and three block assists. Tala Paige Gurganious knocked down twelve kills. Browder passed out a match high forty-four assists. Galvin had another strong defensive effort, picking up a match high twenty-four digs and Alena Magee had a pair of block assists.
The Eagles took the court twice on Saturday playing in the LA Mission Quad. They started the day with a 3-1 loss to Mission but bounced back to defeat West LA 3-0.
In the West LA win, the Eagles won the opening set 25-22 and then dominated the second and third sets winning 25-14 and 25-15. Shannon Frary led the offense with eight kills with Browder making fifteen assists and Kyahanna Jones passing out thirteen. Destiny Affor had nine digs to lead the defense.
The Eagles now 1-4 on the season are right back in action this week with three more matches. Tuesday MSJC will travel to Cypress and Wednesday they will be at LA City, both matches will begin at 6 pm. The Eagles cap off their week at home on Friday when they host Palomar on the San Jacinto Campus at 5 o'clock.
